ScanImage 3.5 supports bidirectional scanning of the fast mirror to a rudimentary extent. The feature is disabled by default. To activate the bidirectional scanning feature, the user should modify the _bidiScanEnabled_ variable in their INI file. This variable is located below the _Rig Configuration_ section at the the head of the model INI file (search for _bidiScanEnabled_ in the file). This value is set to 0 (false) by default, and must be changed to 1 (true) to activate this feature.
Activating the feature will cause a _BiDi_ checkbox to appear in the {link-window:ScanImage Pics^r3_5_AdvancedConfigurationGUI_BiDiVisible.png|type=popup}*Advanced Configuration...*{link-window} dialog box. The _Line Delay_ parameter becomes inactive, as it is not applicable for bidirectional scanning.
(!) This feature is considered *unofficial* at this time and should be used with caution. High scan rates over large fields can cause galvanometers to overheat.
(i) Further support and guidance for the use of bidirectional scanning will be provided in ScanImage 3.6.
