Voice coil driver (SCA814 from Equipment Solutions)
Serial communication needs to be set up with hyper terminal Hyperterminal. Other serial communications systems have not worked. Make sure you read through the Equipment Solutions manual. You will need to make your own connector for header J3, which sends the analog position signal (pins 1 and 2), and returns the analog motor position (pins 3 and 4). These signals can be carried from the driver to NI DAQ via coax cables. A digital enable signal can be added as well, if desired (enable can be made automatic upon power-up with the serial command k3). Serial communication should be disconnected from the SCA814 when it's not in active use–noise or other signals in the serial line can cause erroneous parameters to be set in the driver.
