Why do we have set screws in there? Just to secure final position of plungers? Our holes are not tapped all the way through, so we can't install both, only plungers from the front. I'm trying to find a tap long enough to fix this, but no luck for now with the rare 4-48 thread. -N
The set screws are to keep the spring plungers in place. You can indeed install both, even with the thread not going through. Just back the set screws in (put hex key all the way through first and insert into set screws), and then follow them in with the spring plungers. It's a little annoying screwing the plungers in then, since you can't access the back side of them. You just have to use a tiny screwdriver to push them around by the notches next to the balls. There is probably a special spanner for this, but I hadn't found it.
