POSITION CONTROLS Panel
Position (ROI) File
ScanImage stores motor position data to the ROI File Format, with the .ROI extension. All current position and ROI information is combined into one file when saving; loading a file likewise updates both the current position and ROI tables.
: (Read-only) Displays name of the ROI file most recently loaded (if any)
: Saves current positions (and ROIs) to specified ROI file (defaults most-recently loaded ROI file, if any)
: Prompts user to select file from which to load positions (and ROIs)
See ROI Files for more information.
Position Table
Table displays the XYZ and, if applicable, secondary Z coordinates saved for each the Position IDs currently stored by ScanImage.
The coordinates are displayed in either absolute coordinates, or relative to any origin set using the Zero XY/Z/XYZ, depending on the value of the
checkbox.
: Initiate motor move to currently selected positionID in the table display.
: Remove the stored position(s) from the cache maintained by ScanImage. Removes any associated ROIs for the position ID(s), if any.
: Removes all stored position(s) from the cache maintained by ScanImage, including any associated ROIs.
Shifts
When loading a file of previously stored position coordinates, e.g. on another day, often the relative positions of those positionIDs still pertain to a particular preparation, but all the coordinates may be shifted. The controls help to address this situation.
: Set the coordinates for the currently selected Position ID (highlighted row) to match the current motor position (in XY only, or in all dimensions). Compute the 'shift' between the new stored position and the previously stored coordinates. Apply this shift to all other stored position coordinates, i.e. globally shifting all stored positions.
Users will typically manually adjust stage position to known landmark corresponding to a particular Position ID and then apply either the
/
operation. Thus, coordinates for all other Position IDs are maintained at same relative positions to the reference Position ID.
Options
: If selected, the raw absolute coordinates maintained by stage controller device are displayed. If unchecked, the coordinates displayed are relative to any origin set using the
controls on the Motor Controls panel.
Leaving
unchecked ensures displayed coordinates match the positions shown on the
display of the Motor Controls panel.
: If selected, and a secondary Z coordinate is available, this coordinate is ignored for stored position IDs. Thus secondary Z coordinate is ignored when 1) going to a selected position and 2) identifying the most recently read position as one of the stored position IDs, if applicable.
Position Tolerances
: Specifies, in microns, the positional range within which a motor position will be considered to match a stored position value in the Position Controls table.
When motor position is considered a match, any added ROIs are stored in same tree hierarchy with other ROIs stored for that position.
